ABSTRACT. The search for alternative energy sources has fomented the study of several crops. The macauba palm crop, for instance, has been highlighted because of its particular relevance in Brazil due to its wide distribution across Brazilian territory and its potential for yielding high amounts of oil per cultivated hectare. However, the species is still most commonly harvested via extractivism, which results in low yields. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the dynamic behavior of the fruit-rachilla system when subjected to mechanical vibration to gather baseline information for the subsequent development of macauba harvesting machines. The fruit-rachilla system of the species was modeled for different fruit maturation stages and plant accessions. Natural frequencies and modes of vibration were determined by the stochastic finite element method (FEM), adopting the specific mass and the modulus of elasticity of the system as random variables, which enabled us to compile a dataset of natural frequencies based on the variability of the system properties. The mean values of the natural frequencies obtained in the vibration assays were 26.02 Hz at the green maturation stage and 21.22 Hz at the ripe maturation stage. The mean values of natural frequencies found in the simulation by stochastic FEM, referring to the third mode of vibration, were 26.05 Hz at the green maturation stage and 21.23 Hz at the ripe maturation stage. We concluded that the natural frequencies of the macauba fruit-rachilla system on the basis of different plant accessions showed a decreasing behavior during fruit maturation. The modes of vibration characterized by pendulum displacement did not differ among plant accessions or between fruit maturation stages.

RESUMO A aplicação de métodos ópticos para análise da qualidade de frutos apresenta vantagens em comparação a métodos convencionais, tais como, a não destruição da amostra e a possibilidade de automatizar processos de controle de qualidade. Objetivou-se com este trabalho comparar redes neurais artificiais desenvolvidas a partir de índices de atividade biológica obtidos pela técnica óptica do biospeckle laser e a partir das variáveis físico-químicas obtidas por técnicas convencionais destrutivas, avaliando o acerto de classificação quanto a maturação de tomates utilizando como referência uma classificação previamente realizada por inspeção visual. Para realização do experimento foram utilizados 150 tomates divididos em três estádios de maturação. A análise multivariada de componentes principais foi realizada visando avaliar a interação da variância dentro dos grupos de dados obtidos pela técnica do biospeckle laser e pelos métodos laboratoriais destrutivos. Duas redes neurais artificiais foram desenvolvidas, sendo a primeira rede neural gerada utilizando os índices de atividade biológica como vetores de entrada e a segunda rede neural gerada utilizando as variáveis físico-químicas como vetores de entrada. A comparação da capacidade de acerto entre as duas redes neurais, tendo como base uma classificação de referência, foi realizada a partir dos parâmetros índice Kappa e exatidão global. A variância da maturação em função dos índices de atividade biológica pôde ser explicada pelo primeiro componente principal. A rede neural gerada a partir dos índices de atividade biológica apresentou melhor desempenho para classificar os tomates nos três estádios de maturação apresentando índice Kappa significativo e uma exatidão global de 67,5%.

ABSTRACT Optical methods for analysing fruit quality have various advantages compared to conventional methods, including not destroying the sample and the possibility of automating the quality control process. The aim of this study was to compare artificial neural networks developed from biological activity indices obtained using the biospeckle laser optical technique, and from physico-chemical variables obtained by conventional destructive techniques, through an evaluation of their precision in classifying ripe tomatoes, using as a reference an earlier classification carried out by visual inspection. A total of 150 tomatoes were used in the experiment, divided into three ripening stages. Multivariate principal component analysis was used to evaluate interaction of the variance within the groups of data obtained using the biospeckle laser technique and destructive laboratory methods. Two artificial neural networks were developed, the first generated using biological activity indices as input vectors, and the second using physico-chemical variables. The precision of the two neural networks was compared using the Kappa index and overall accuracy, and was based on a reference classification. The variation in ripening as a function of the biological activity indices was explained by the first principal component. The neural network generated from the biological activity indices showed the best performance in classifying the tomatoes into the three ripening stages, with a significant Kappa index and an overall accuracy of 67.5%.

ABSTRACT Nitrogen (N) plays a key role for optimal plant growth and, in particular, for profitable crop production. Optimal N management using optical sensors can provide a rapid assessment of a crop N status. Therefore, this study aimed at comparing the efficiency of two chlorophyll meters in assessing the N status in corn plants when using an economical optimum dose of nitrogen under variable rate application. To do so, a field experiment using a randomized block design with 5 treatments and 5 replicates was carried out in Januária - Brazil (15| 28' 55" S, 44° 22' 41'' W; 474 m) in 2018. Treatments consisted of comparing the pre-fixed N fertilization system with three strategies of variable rate N application using different thresholds of the nitrogen sufficiency index (NSI) in the V4, V8, V10, and V14 vegetative stages. As a result, both chlorophyll meters were capable of detecting the need for N application and differentiating between the plants that received or did not receive N application. In addition, readings from both sensors were highly correlated (> 0.92) from the V6 to the V18 stage. Lastly, both chlorophyll meters were able to identify the crop development variability and could be a suitable tool to monitor the nutritional status and for guiding N fertilization in corn crops.

RESUMEN El nitrógeno (N) desempeña un papel clave para el crecimiento óptimo de las plantas y, en particular, para la producción rentable de cultivos. La gestión óptima de N mediante sensores ópticos puede proporcionar una evaluación rápida del estado de N de un cultivo. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo comparar la eficiencia de dos medidores de clorofila en la evaluación del estado de N en las plantas de maíz cuando se utiliza una dosis óptima de nitrógeno económica bajo una aplicación de tasa variable. Para hacerlo, se realizó un experimento de campo utilizando un diseño de bloques al azar con 5 tratamientos y 5 réplicas en Januária - Brasil (15 °28 '55' 'S, 44 °22'41 '' O; 474 m) en 2018. Los tratamientos consistieron en comparar el sistema de fertilización de N preestablecido con tres estrategias de aplicación de N de velocidad variable utilizando diferentes umbrales del índice de suficiencia de nitrógeno (NSI) en las etapas vegetativas V4, V8, V10 y V14. Como resultado, ambos medidores de clorofila fueron capaces de detectar la necesidad de la aplicación de N y diferenciar entre las plantas que recibieron o no la aplicación de N. Además, las lecturas de ambos sensores estaban altamente correlacionadas (> 0,92) desde la etapa V6 a la etapa V18. Por último, ambos medidores de clorofila pudieron identificar la variabilidad del desarrollo del cultivo y podrían ser una herramienta adecuada para monitorear el estado nutricional y para guiar la fertilización con N en los cultivos de maíz.

Abstract Charcoal produced from reforested wood can be distinguished from the charcoal derived from the wood of native species. This identification is very important for the trade, control and monitoring of charcoal production in Brazil. This study investigated the potential of texture analysis for classifying the charcoal based on origin (eucalyptus or native) and species. A total of 17 wood species were studied, five of which belonged to genus Eucalyptus and 12 were native to the Zona da Mata Mineira. Texture features based on the gray level co-occurrence matrix were extracted from digital images. The linear discriminant analysis was used to classify the images with these features. Employing 10 features, 96.2% accuracy was achieved for the classification by origin and 90.4% for the categorization by species. Texture analysis was shown to be a favorable and effective method that could facilitate the establishment of semiautomated techniques to classify the charcoal based on origin or species.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi usar a modelagem e a simulação computacional como ferramenta de suporte aos tomadores de decisão, visando a aumentar a produtividade da agroindústria Laticínio Funarbe. Especificamente, modelou o setor atual da produção de iogurte para elaboração de análises que possibilita atender à nova demanda. Para a modelagem utilizou-se o software de simulação Arena 14.7. Para a validação do modelo foram comparados os resultados de produção de iogurte coletados na fábrica durante três meses com os resultados simulados pelo modelo computacional. Foram estabelecidos dois indicadores para realizar análises de quatro cenários diferentes. Por meio do modelo implementado, obtivemos um aumento da capacidade produtiva de 5000L.d-1 de iogurte, que corresponde a uma produção de iogurtes processados, diariamente, três vezes maior do que a produção atual.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this research was to use the modeling and computer simulation to support decision makers, aiming to increase the productive capacity of the agro-industry of LaticínioFunarbe. Specifically, it has modeled the current yoghurt production sector for simulation that enables it to meet the new demand. The Arena 14.7 simulation software was used to conduct the modeling. To validate the model, the output of yoghurt production collected at the factory for three months was compared with the output from the simulated computational model. Two indicators were established to perform analyzes of four different scenarios. The implemented model resulted in an increase in the production capacity of 5,000L.d-1 of yoghurt, corresponding to a production of yoghurts processed daily three times higher than the current production.

RESUMO O mapeamento da condutividade elétrica aparente do solo (CEa) tornou-se importante para caracterizar a variabilidade do solo em sistemas de agricultura de precisão. A CEa pode ser usada para definir os pontos de amostragem para mapeamento de atributos químicos e físicos do solo? O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as relações entre CEa e atributos do solo em duas áreas com texturas de solo diferentes. Em cada área, 50 pontos de amostragem foram escolhidos considerando uma linha de caminhamento que apresentou alta variabilidade de CEa, obtida através de um mapeamento preliminar do atributo. Em cada ponto de amostragem a CEa foi mensurada nas profundidades de 0-20, 0-40 e 0-60 cm do solo, recolhendo-se também amostras de solo para determinação dos atributos físicos e químicos em laboratório. Os dados de CEa mensurados em diferentes profundidades do solo foram muito similares. Observou-se um grande número de correlações significativas entre CEa e os atributos do solo. Na área de solo arenoso, não houve correlação entre CEa e matéria orgânica ou entre CEa e teor de argila e de areia. Entretanto, uma correlação positiva significativa foi observada para o fósforo remanescente. Na área de solo argiloso, a CEa teve correlação positiva significativa com o teor de argila e correlação negativa significativa com o teor de areia. Os resultados sugerem que o mapeamento da CEa não substitui a amostragem tradicional do solo, porém, pode ser utilizada como informação para delimitar regiões que apresentam atributos de solo semelhantes em uma área.

ABSTRACT Mapping the apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) has become important for the characterization of the soil variability in precision agriculture systems. Could the ECa be used to locate the soil sampling points for mapping the chemical and physical soil attributes? The objective of this work was to examine the relations between ECa and soil attributes in two fields presenting different soil textures. In each field, 50 sampling points were chosen using a path that presented a high variability of ECa obtained from a preliminary ECa map. At each sampling point, the ECa was measured in soil depths of 0-20, 0-40 and 0-60 cm. In addition, at each point, soil samples were collected for the determination of physical and chemical attributes in the laboratory. The ECa data obtained for different soil depths was very similar. A large number of significant correlations between ECa and the soil attributes were found. In the sandy clay loam texture field there was no correlation between ECa and organic matter or between ECa and soil clay and sand content. However, a significant positive correlation was shown for the remaining phosphorus. In the sandy loam texture field the ECa had a significant positive correlation with clay content and a significant negative correlation with sand content. The results suggest that the mapping of apparent soil electrical conductivity does not replace traditional soil sampling, however, it can be used as information to delimit regions in a field that have similar soil attributes.

RESUMO. Métodos de implementação numérica, como o método de elementos finitos, podem ser empregados em projetos de máquinas a fim de estudar o comportamento dinâmico da planta. Como parâmetros de entrada para utilização do método de elementos finitos, devem ser informadas as propriedades geométricas, físicas e mecânicas do sistema em estudo. Objetivou-se neste trabalho determinar as propriedades geométricas, físicas e mecânicas da ráquis de macaúba, nos estádios de maturação de frutos verdes com idade de 180 dias e maduros. O teor de água foi calculado através do método de estufa de 105 ± 3°C por 24h, as dimensões foram determinadas com o auxilio de trena e paquímetro, as massas e os volumes mensurados, empregando-se balança digital e proveta, respectivamente. O módulo de elasticidade da ráquis foi determinado por meio de ensaios mecânicos de compressão. Os coeficientes de Poisson foram determinados pelas deformações longitudinais e transversais de corpos de provas oriundos da ráquis. Concluiu-se que os módulos de elasticidade das ráquis no estádio de maturação verde foram superiores aos valores para o estádio maduro de maturação.

ABSTRACT. Numerical implementation methods such as the finite element method can be used in machine design to study the dynamic behavior of the plant. Input parameters for using the finite element method should be set based on the geometrical, physical and mechanical system under study. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of the rachis of macaw palm in the green maturation stage at an age of 180 days and at fruit maturation. The water content was calculated using the oven method of 105 ± 3°C for 24 hours. The modulus of elasticity for the rachis was determined by means of mechanical compression testing. The Poisson's ratios were determined from the results of the longitudinal and transverse deformation of rachis test bodies. The shear tests were performed in two scenarios. In the first one, a blade was used without a tensioner, and in the second scenario, a blade was fixed with a tensioner, characterized by a chamfer at 45°. It was concluded that the modulus of elasticity of macaw palm rachis in the green maturity stage was higher than the values for the mature stage of ripeness.

RESUMO Propriedades mecânicas do sistema fruto-ráquila de macaúba O fruto da palmeira nativa macaúba [Acrocomia aculeata (lacq) Lood. ex Mart] é uma alternativa para a produção de biodiesel devido às características da planta, como sua adaptabilidade, rusticidade e alta produção de óleo vegetal. Contudo, sua exploração ainda é extrativista e há grandes dificuldades em sua colheita. Objetivou-se determinar as propriedades mecânicas do sistema fruto-ráquila de macaúba que servirão de suporte aos projetos de máquinas para colheita por vibração mecânica. Foram utilizadas dez amostras de quatro acessos, nos estádios de maturação imaturo e maduro. Ensaios de tração e vibração foram realizados para determinar as propriedades mecânicas do sistema fruto-ráquila. O módulo de elasticidade obtido para a ráquila foi de 188,39-385,09 MPa para o estádio imaturo e 109,02-320,54 MPa para o maduro. A razão de Poisson para a ráquila ficou entre 0,20 e 0,52 para o estádio imaturo e entre 0,16 e 0,52 para o maduro. A razão de amortecimento encontrada variou entre 0,02 e 0,12 para o estádio imaturo e entre 0,06 e 0,12 para o maduro. O sistema fruto-ráquila foi caracterizado como subamortecido.

ABSTRACT The fruit of the native macaw palm [Acrocomia aculeata (lacq) Lood. ex Mart] is an alternative for biodiesel production because of the plant characteristics, as well as its adaptability, hardiness and high vegetable oil yield. However, its exploitation remains extractive and there are significant difficulties in its harvest. This study aimed to determine the mechanical properties of the macaw palm fruit-rachilla system that will support the design of harvest machines based on mechanical vibration. Ten samples of four accessions in the immature and mature stages of maturity were used. Traction and vibration tests were conducted to determine the mechanical properties of the macaw palm fruit-rachilla system. The elastic modulus of the rachilla was 188.39-385.09 MPa for the immature stage and 109.02-320.54 MPa for the mature stage. The Poisson's ratio for the rachilla varied between 0.20 and 0.52 for the immature stage and between 0.16 and 0.52 for the mature stage. The damping ratio varied between 0.02 and 0.12 for the immature stage and between 0.06 and 0.12 for the mature stage. The fruit-rachilla system was characterized as underdamped.

RESUMO: A macaúba tem sido apontada como uma das principais matérias-primas para a indústria de biodiesel nas próximas décadas. No entanto, não existem máquinas para colheita ou destacamento dos frutos na usina e o estudo do comportamento dinâmico do sistema fruto-ráquila nortearia o desenvolvimento dessas máquinas. Dessa forma, objetivou-se determinar o módulo de elasticidade e a razão de amortecimento de quatro acessos provindos do Banco Ativo de Germoplasma da UFV. Foi realizado teste de tração para determinar o módulo de elasticidade. A partir dos resultados obtidos na forma gráfica, tensão versus deformação específica, foi determinado o módulo de elasticidade pelo método da tangente. Para determinar a razão de amortecimento, foi empregado o método do decremento logarítmico, realizado por meio de teste de vibração. O teste de vibração constituiu-se de um impulso para excitar o sistema. A aquisição das informações geradas foi realizada por meio de acelerômetro piezelétrico. O módulo de elasticidade médio ficou entre 2,22 e 3,17MPa e as razões de amortecimento médias ficaram entre 0,04 e 0,08. Concluiu-se que o sistema fruto-ráquila da macaúba é subamortecido.

ABSTRACT: The macaw palm has been identified as a prime feed stock for biodiesel industries in the near future coming decades. However, there are no machines for harvesting and detaching fruits in the biofuel industry; hence, the study of the dynamic behavior of the fruit-rachilla system would aid in the development of such machines. Thus, this study seeks to determine the modulus of elasticity and the damping ratio of four different plant accessions obtained from the Active Germplasm Bank of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Tensile testing was conducted to determine the modulus of elasticity. From the graphical results of tension versus specific strain, it was possible to determine the modulus of elasticity by using the tangent method. To determine the damping ratio, the logarithmic decrement method was performed using vibration testing. Vibration test consisted of a generated impulse of 100% of the amplitude of acceleration that was used to excite the system. The acquisition of the generated information was performed by a piezoelectric accelerometer. The average modulus of elasticity ranged from 2.22 to 3.17MPa, and the average damping ratios ranged from 0.04 to 0.08. Thus, the macaw fruit-rachilla was an under-damped system.

ABSTRACT Water erosion is the process of disaggregation and transport of sediments, and rainfall erosivity is a numerical value that expresses the erosive capacity of rain. The scarcity of information on rainfall erosivity makes it difficult or impossible to use to estimate losses occasioned by the erosive process. The objective of this study was to develop Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for spatial interpolation of the monthly and annual values of rainfall erosivity at any location in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and a software that enables the use of these networks in a simple and fast manner. This experiment used 103 rainfall stations in Rio Grande do Sul and their surrounding area to generate synthetic rainfall series on the software ClimaBR 2.0. Rainfall erosivity was determined by summing the values of the EI30 and KE >25 indexes, considering two methodologies for obtaining the kinetic energy of rainfall. With these values of rainfall erosivity and latitude, longitude, and altitude of the stations, the ANNs were trained and tested for spatializations of rainfall erosivity. To facilitate the use of the ANNs, a computer program was generated, called netErosividade RS, which makes feasible the use of ANNs to estimate the values of rainfall erosivity for any location in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

RESUMO O desenvolvimento de máquinas eficientes para a colheita mecanizada do cafeeiro exige a utilização de parâmetros vibracionais adequados. Assim, para um menor desprendimento de frutos verdes, repasse, quebra de galhos e desfolha, devem ser utilizados magnitudes de frequência, amplitude e tempo de vibração adequados. Objetivou-se analisar a eficiência de derriça de frutos de cafeeiro, em função de parâmetros vibracionais e estádio de maturação. Cachos de frutos foram amostrados nos estádios de maturação verde e cereja e submetidos à vibração, utilizando-se um sistema composto por um gerador de sinais, um amplificador e uma máquina vibratória eletromagnética. Os ensaios foram realizados combinando-se diferentes frequências (16,4 Hz; 20,3 Hz; 24 Hz; 25,6 Hz; 30,0 Hz; e 33,0 Hz), amplitudes (5,0 mm; 7,0 mm; e 9,0 mm) e tempos de vibração (10,0 s e 20,0 s). Os tempos de vibração empregados não influenciaram na eficiência de derriça. Houve tendência de a eficiência de derriça dos frutos cerejas ser superior à dos frutos verdes. A eficiência de derriça aumentou à medida que se aumentou a frequência e a amplitude de vibração.

ABSTRACT The development of efficient machines for the mechanical harvesting of coffee plants requires the use of appropriate vibrational parameters. Thus, in order to detach less unripe fruits and decrease reharvesting, branch breakage and defoliation, it is important to choose the appropriate frequency, amplitude and vibration time. This study aimed at analyzing the detachment efficiency of fruits from coffee plants according to vibrational parameters and ripening stage. Fruit bunches were sampled at the green and mature stages and subjected to vibration, using a system composed by a signal generator, an amplifier and an electromagnetic vibrating machine. Tests combined different frequencies (16.4 Hz, 20.3 Hz, 24 Hz, 25.6 Hz, 30.0 Hz and 33.0 Hz), amplitudes (5.0 mm, 7.0 mm and 9.0 mm) and vibration times (10.0 s and 20.0 s). The vibration times did not affect the detachment efficiency. There was a trend for higher detachment efficiency in mature fruits than in green fruits. The detachment efficiency increased with increasing vibration frequency and amplitude.

Para mapear a variabilidade espacial de um campo e definir a aplicação em taxa variável, uma amostragem intensiva do sistema solo-planta é necessária. A condutividade elétrica aparente do solo (ECa) tem sido utilizada para o mapeamento do solo, pois correlaciona-se bem com os atributos do solo, permite a amostragem densa e pode ser obtida a baixo custo. No entanto, o ECa é influenciada pelo teor de água do solo, e a variabilidade desse atributo pode reduzir a confiabilidade dos mapas de ECa para explicar os atributos físicos e químicos do solo. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar as condições que maximizem as correlações entre a ECa e os atributos do solo. Os resultados mostram que o teor de água médio do solo amostrado em diferentes datas foi correlacionado com a média da ECa. O momento ideal para medir ECa ocorreu quando o teor de água médio do solo foi mais elevado. Nesta condição, o coeficiente de variação para o teor de água do solo foi menor, não houve correlação entre ECa e o teor de água do solo, e ECa foi mais correlacionado com outros atributos do solo avaliados nesse trabalho.

To map the spatial variability of a field to define the variable rate application, an intensive sampling of the soil-plant system is necessary. The apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) has been used for soil mapping because it correlates well with soil attributes, allows for dense sampling and can be obtained at low cost. However, ECa is influenced by soil moisture content, and the variability of this attribute can reduce the reliability of the ECa maps to explain the physical and chemical soil attributes. The objective of this study was to identify conditions that maximize the correlations between the ECa and the soil attributes. The results show that the mean soil moisture content of soil sampled on different dates was correlated with the mean of the ECa. The ideal time for measuring ECa occurred when the mean moisture content of the soil was higher. In this condition, the coefficient of variation for the soil moisture content was lower, there was no correlation between ECa and soil moisture content, and ECa was more correlated with other soil attributes evaluated in this work.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se estudar a resposta espectral de plantas de feijoeiro à infecção por Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, fungo causador do mofo-branco. Foram conduzidos dois ensaios, no delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos e quatro repetições, no primeiro ensaio, e seis tratamentos e quatro repetições, no segundo. Medidas de reflectância espectral do dossel do feijoeiro, entre os comprimentos de ondas de 400 a 850 nm, foram tomadas aos 60, 71, 91 e 102 dias após a emergência (DAE), no primeiro ensaio, e aos 13, 27, 34, 56, 71 e 91 DAE, no segundo. Os dados espectrais foram transformados em índices de vegetação: da diferença normalizada (NDVI), da diferença de verde normalizado (GNDVI) e ajustado para o solo (SAVI). A severidade do mofo-branco foi avaliada, visualmente, aos 102 DAE, no primeiro ensaio, e aos 92 DAE, no segundo. Houve correlação significativa apenas no segundo ensaio, entre a severidade da doença e o NDVI, aos 71 DAE. A resposta espectral do feijoeiro pode ser utilizada para a detecção da ocorrência do mofo-branco e, consequentemente, como ferramenta no manejo integrado.

The objective of this work was to study the spectral response of bean plants infected by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, the causal agent of white mold. Two experiments were conducted using a randomized block design with five treatments and four replications in the first trial and six treatments and four replications in the second. Measurements of canopy spectral reflectance of wavelengths between 400 and 850 nm were taken at 60, 71, 91 and 102 days after emergence (DAE) in the first trial and at 13, 27, 34, 56, 71 and 91 DAE in the second. Spectral data were transformed into vegetation indices: the normalized difference (NDVI), the green normalized difference (GNDVI) and the soil adjusted (SAVI). The white mold severity was visually assessed at 102 DAE in the first trial and at 92 DAE in the second. A significant correlation between disease severity and NDVI was found only at 71 DAE in the second trial. The bean crop spectral response can be used to detect white mold occurrence and, consequently, as an integrated management tool.

A diferenciação dos cafés através da noção de terroir permite determinar áreas potenciais para a produção de cafés especiais e caracterizar o tipo de café dessas áreas, explorando suas potencialidades. O objetivo nesse trabalho foi estudar a variabilidade espacial da qualidade e caracterizar e delimitar terroirs de produção de café de lavouras no município de Araponga - MG a partir da avaliação sensorial dos frutos produzidos nas mesmas. Os dados foram coletados em quatro lavouras, as quais apresentam uma variação de altitude de 770 a 1270 m, dentro de extrato crescente. Em cada talhão das lavouras, foram coletadas amostras de frutos cereja que, depois de secas e beneficiadas, foram submetidas à análise sensorial, onde foram atribuídas notas variando de 0 a 100 pontos para a qualidade global da bebida e também para características relativas à sua doçura, corpo, acidez, sabor e equilíbrio. A variabilidade espacial da qualidade foi analisada através do índice de Moran. Para a definição dos terroirs de produção de café, as notas médias de qualidade, foram comparadas através de testes de separação e os valores individuais dos talhões submetidos à uma análise de agrupamentos. O estudo foi eficiente para identificar terroirs para a cafeicultura de montanha, permitindo assim diferenciar os cafés em função dos seus locais de produção. O município de Araponga possui mais de um terroir de produção de café caracterizado por dois distintos extratos de altitude.

Differentiating coffees through the notion of terroirs allows us to determine potential areas for specialty coffee production and to characterize the type of coffee in these areas, exploring their potential. The objective of this work was to study spatial variability quality and to characterize and delimit terroirs in coffee crop production in Araponga municipality, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, using sensorial evaluation. The data were collected from four crops, from altitudes ranging from 770 to 1270 m, with the extract increasing from low to high. In each plot of crops, samples of cherry fruits were collected, dried, benefited, subjected to sensorial analysis and given grades ranging from 0 to 100 points for the global drink quality and relative characteristics of honey, body, acidity, flavor and equilibrium. The spatial variability of the quality was analyzed using the Moran Index. To define coffee production terroirs, average quality grades were compared through separation tests and the individual values of the plots were subjected to an analysis of groupings. The study was efficient in identifying terroirs for mountain coffee culture, therefore allowing coffees to be differentiated as a function of their production locations. Araponga has more than one coffee production terroir characterized by two distinct altitude extracts.

Objetivou-se desenvolver classificadores com base em diferentes combinações de bandas e índices de vegetação espectrais de imagens originais, segmentadas e reflectâncias, para discriminação de teores de nitrogênio e clorofila foliares do feijoeiro, definindo a melhor época e as melhores variáveis. Foi utilizado um sistema de sensoriamento remoto constituído por um balão a gás hélio e duas câmeras digitais de pequeno formato. Além das bandas isoladamente, foram testados quatro índices de vegetação: da razão simples, da diferença normalizada, da diferença normalizada utilizando a banda do verde e o da absorção de clorofila modificado. Os classificadores demonstraram serem eficientes na discriminação de teores de nitrogênio e clorofila foliares. A melhor época para discriminar teor de nitrogênio foliar foi aos 13 DAE (estádio V4). Os melhores classificadores para esta época utilizaram como entrada dois índices em imagens reflectância segmentada, um índice relacionado com a estrutura do dossel e outro relacionado com a clorofila, com Kappa variando entre 0,26 a 0,31. Para discriminar teor de clorofila foliar, a melhor época foi aos 21 DAE (estádio V4). O melhor classificador utilizou como entrada duas imagens originais, uma da banda vermelha e outra da banda azul, com Kappa de 0,47.

This study aimed to develop classifiers based on different combinations of spectral bands and vegetation indices from original, segmented and reflectance images in order to determine the levels of leaf nitrogen and chlorophyll in the bean, and to define the best time and best variables. A remote-sensing system was used, consisting of a helium balloon and two small-format digital cameras. Besides the individual spectral bands, four vegetation indices were tested: simple ratio, normalized difference, normalized difference in the green band, and modified-chlorophyll absorption. The classifiers proved to be efficient in determining levels of leaf nitrogen and chlorophyll. The best time for determining leaf N content was at 13 DAE (stage V4). The best classifiers for that time used as input variables two indices from segmented reflectance images, one index related to the canopy structure and the other related to chlorophyll, with a Kappa ranging from 0.26 to 0.31. The best time to discriminate leaf chlorophyll content was 21 DAE (stage V4). The best classifier used as input variables two original images, one in the red band and one in the blue with a Kappa of 0.47.
